Online-Marketing Associate

The George Lucas Educational Foundation seeks a full-time, benefited online-marketing associate to support the communications manager in all marketing efforts for the Foundation and Edutopia. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out search engine marketing activities to help achieve goals and objectives. This is a full-time, benefited position, reporting to the director of marketing, located in our San Rafael office.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the communications manager to achieve objectives for products and services and in the development of marketing.
  • Implement, analyze, and manage search engine marketing campaigns including SEO (organic and paid), SMM, keyword analysis/research, tracking and reporting on campaigns successes, and data analysis.
  • Proactively make strategic recommendations to increase traffic to Edutopia.org.
  • Work with members of the Web team to demonstrate how their decisions affect SEO and how to take SEO into account when developing online content.
  • Assist in developing and implementing creative and high-quality link-building programs.
  • Track impressions, buzz, and overall exposure, and develop methods for measuring the performance of promotional campaigns and strategies.
  • Create and analyze weekly and monthly promotional reports.
  • Assist in conducting and managing marketing surveys on current and new product concepts, as well as attitudes, behaviors, and demographics of readership base.
  • Facilitate in managing external design agencies and freelancers in development of marketing collateral.
  • Provide support for promotional special events.
  • Maintain a consistent corporate image as detailed in the Brand User Guide throughout all product lines, promotional materials, events, presentations, and proposals.
  • Assist in the creation of annual marketing expense and revenue budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • One to two years of experience in Internet marketing.
  • Previous search-engine-marketing experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Tenacity, flexibility, dependability, and the ability to grasp and manage the search-engine-marketing process to improve traffic, conversions, and brand visibility online.
  • Experience with MS Office required; knowledge of Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and HTML is a big plus. General understanding of HTML and the Internet required; however, this position is not a Web-development role.
  • Tech savvy and the ability to learn new concepts and software applications quickly is preferred.
  • Strong creative, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; excellent writing skills and command of the English language.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, efficient work habits and flexibility, and the ability to multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
  • Ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment with team members of all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage details and demonstrate efficient work habits and flexibility.
  • A self-starter approach to work with an eagerness to consistently meet and exceed objectives and take on more responsibility.
  • A strong personal or professional interest in bettering public education.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent. A degree in marketing or related field is helpful but not essential.
