Leaving Most Children Behind

Really great effort you are making. These these five skill areas are the ones employers and society as a whole most need. The approach is much more relevant than the lecture, memorization and skill sheet completion approaches so common in education today. The no child is left behind movement is meaningless if ALL students are left behind.

New Teacher looking for new ideas
Submitted by Daniel Rodriguez (not verified) on June 28, 2007 - 09:24.
I'm a NYC Teaching Fellow and I'm changing careers to become a High School English teacher this fall. So far, Edutopia is the most interesting source I've found in regards to using both creativity and technology in the classroom as a source of inspiring students to want to learn. I look forward to using Edutopia's resources in the future of my new career.
PBL and the Career switcher

Hello fellow teacher.
I am a career switcher like your self. One of the most fascinating things about teaching I have found is the many ways which you can get the content a crossed to students. It has been my passion to find new and interesting ways to discover that new path to learning for children. College for adults is a mixed bad of traditional lectures and taking notes with some project based learning. You’re a new English teacher, this I am sure has its challenges as had my introduction into the public school system last year. Keep plugging away but more importantly once you get your feet wet, choose to explore those things which make you sit up and take notice. Clearly what motivates you to learn with also motivate your pupils.
